I’m a high risk OB Maternal Fetal Medicine tech and when we get slammed with too many 40 min) anatomy scans on obese patients it takes days for shoulder, neck, wrist to recover. I work an eight hour shift so catching up on massage and relaxation doesn’t get it. I have been practicing for 18 years and I’m just hoping I can last three more years to retirement. I just don’t want to be so broken that I can’t enjoy all the gardening, painting, refurbishing furniture and the ability to hold and pick up my grand baby!!! It’s a rough business and I love what I do- I just appreciate others being aware of the physical and mental strain and stress sonographers endure on a daily basis.

Can someone start a petition to do away with call also?! That’s very dangerous to be driving drowsy in the middle of the night!

We are pushed to disregard the safety of our patients and our bodies, to perform as many exams as possible without regard to quality and or correct

I love my career!! But I have constant pain in my neck, back, hips, and shoulder from scanning so much. I’m no longer able to open jars due to the fatigue on my arm and hand. I have to see a chiropractor weekly due to my neck/back/hip pain. Please consider this petition to save our careers that we love so much but are burned out on! God bless!!

Our bodies and quality of life are being sacrificed so others can make money literally off our backs and hard work. Sonographers get paid (on average) 1.25% of what an exam costs, yet we bear the brunt of all the physical labor. Without us, they would have no studies to charge for, but there are no restrictions on number of studies our managers can expect from us per shift. In an assembly-line like environment, patient care is being sacrificed along with the bodily wellbeing of the sonographer performing the exam. This needs to change.
