I have experienced work injury. I have scanned in pain for 20 years. A limit needs to be set.

i Couldn’t agree more! Something needs to be done !! I am looking at early retirement vs career change myself and this is what I love to do. I can’t see myself doing something else but I’m ruining my body and scanning in pain daily.

We do need regulations on patient load for safety of sonographers and patients

I am a cardiac sonographer that has had both shoulder and neck injuries and have been out of my customary work for nine years now with no hope in sight to return to scanning which is my love.

I had 3 complete rotator tears in RT shoulder, one complete in LT Shoulder. Had repairative surgery 10/18 from scanning OB/Gyn since 1991. My work load was 14 a day for years. I had no idea I was destroying my shoulder until last year. I am back to work but on a 8 scan a day limit. Just because you are young, don’t abuse your body like I did.

I had to stop working because my Employer wanted more done each day.

I was an Echo Tech for over 12 years and the discs and nerves in my back and neck were permanently hurt and damaged from doing my job.

I had to leave my 14 year career last year due to wrist surgery. I loved doing ultrasound but my body could not tolerate the daily abuse. In order to obtain quality images we put our bodies through hell. There needs to be some kind of guide lines to help protect ultrasound techs.
