As the field of Ultrasound has grown in demand and patient body mass index has increased, Ultrasound related injuries are on the rise with crippling, career ending injuries to sonographers. We, sonographers, need protection and this petition if enacted could help provide a way for the here and now as well as for the future of Ultrasound. Otherwise, there may be an extreme shortage of sonographers in the future due to work related injuries and the possibility that this wonderful health career may be “blacklisted “ by people thinking about a non hazardous medical career

Went back to school due to pain & injuries in neck, shoulders, low back, bilateral thumbs & index fingers resulting in no grip. Something needs to be done about this problem.

When you consider how long we have the potential to be working in this field it sets us up for so many things. Physical injury is the top of this list. Not just soft tissue injuries but back , neck and shoulders. The repetitive nature of our industry is much the same as an athlete who goes and works their butt off ever single day. We also need supports and regulations so the abuse can stop.
