This would be great for worcester. A 50 metre pool would be even better. It would be a prestige venue serving the county and beyond. Managed well it could really generate money and boost the local economy. Sometimes to reap big rewards you have to think big.

With UK obesity levels at an all time high, particularly an alarming increase in childhood obesity, this is a vital yet severely neglected resource. What sort of legacy are we leaving our children with all these decaying neglected pools? The 2012 Olympics were a triumph for British Sport but we are not following through with grassroots planning for generations to come. How many deaths from Coronary Heart Disease do we have to document before those with the power to stop the rot realise that we should have provided more swimming facilities? Swimming benefits all muscles in the body, it is non-weight bearing so less strain on the joints, you don't need fancy expensive sports equipment , you don't need to worry about the weather in order to participate AND it's fun!

it is ludicrous that there should not be a proper swimming pool in worcester. where will tomorrows Olympic swimmers get to train? surely we should provide an attractive pool to the younger people in the community after all the appeal of water has resulted in a number of deaths in our local rivers. shouldn't we offer a safe environment for people to swim?

This would be of incredible benefit to the whole community, much wider than just Worcester. I have two children who swim regularly for a local club and know how many young people would benefit from an eight lane pool that is modern and well equipped for competitive swimming as well as leisure swimming.

New pool = more utilisation = more health and well being = more productivity + less illness = more growth and less civic cost. Winner.

For the past 15+ years my own children have been using Worcester pool, starting from learning to swim through to representing WSC at National competitions hosted at the pool. In that same period the population has increased significantly and continued growth is expected with 1000’s of new homes and families coming to the area in the very near future.
Over the years I have travelled the country with my children entering a multitude of sporting activities. Whilst many other towns and cities have invested in their communities sporting needs, we have been stuck with the same old facilities which are simply not suitable for todays needs. It is about time we built a swimming facility that meets the needs of the whole community and aspired to showcase the fantastic talent in Worcestershire. There are so many good examples of multi use pool complexes across the country, the officials need to look beyond the local boundaries.

Please invest in the future of Worcester and the health of its residents by building a 8 lanes Pool. Do not just react to the current situation, please create a pool this county can be proud of.

An eight lane pool is vital for the continued growth of Worcester Swimming Club and for a Worcester pool to be involved at County Level competitions as well as being a pool Worcester residents can use and be proud of.

My son swims for Ledbury Swimming club, we make frequent journeys to Coventry and Wolverhampton and Cardiff to use there competition pool, it would be fantastic to not have to travel so far and I turn attract swimming to Worcester.
