The valuation on my house has more than doubled from R1,175,000 to 2,390,000. More than 200%. Why? The streets are never cleaned, nor are the gutters. I have made no renovations to my house since 2015 to justify this astronomical increase in the value of my house. Crime had increased and is beyond control and the police don't do anything about it

Just drive through any street in woodstock and see the atate of disrepair. None of our raods are swept or cleaned. The community does this ourselves.

If funds were utilized to impose by-laws ( e.g. combatting anti social behavior , noise control , DP’s ) and ensure service delivery , I would gladly pay the increase , this is however not the case in our neighbourhood

Why have the council raised my home valuation by a million rand and just by looking at the outside of it. I refuse to accept it as this is their way of putting up my rates and taxes which I can barely afford.

Valuations are based on a global increase, instead of looking at actual property prices achieved during resale.
