I’ve driven through width restriction poles many times before , but this one on Woodmere avenue is just like a trap for drivers. You get through the first set of poles but you’ll hit the second. I’ve damaged my car there and who’s going to pay for it? Clearly must be changed!

I have never seen the need for this particular design of speed restriction, wholly unsuitable.

I refuse to risk my car going through these ridiculous width restrictions. Therefore, I end up driving all round the houses (I live on the Tudor Estate) and causing far more pollution! The restrictions also affect residents being able to utilise the Meriden community facilities with young children. I feel I have to risk life & limb with my children crossing the A41 on foot to access the football pitches. Please find a solution as soon as possible!!!

Causes traffic to build up all the way to the top of the road every evening and many people just drive through the middle anyway

These are not the original width restrictions !! The problems only started when they were redesigned. They narrow as you exit the width restrictions that's why so many accidents accur

This width restriction is madness .. the road camber throws a car over slightly and it so easy to scrape the side of your car . I live in BML and either go down to the Toby roundabout or down the full length of BML to avoid the restriction. Pointless if needed have one pair of posts not 3

Most recently there was a large pothole at the entrance of the restriction you would have to come to a stop otherwise you would either damage your vehicle by the pothole or the restriction poles, Too narrow and i'm a confident Taxi driver. I can see the difficulty for an older driver and that is not fair especially where there is proof it is a accident hot spot surely a change needs to take place. Get rid of the restriction.

We've seen so many cars get stuck and it is a ridiculous. The Council should try taking a variety of their vehicles through and see how difficult it can be.

Yep it's definitely the tightest of width restrictions in the area, I now avoid it!

The design of this restriction needs urgent review. It is hard to line up on, the posts disappear out of view, so it cannot be taken slowly (those that do end up stuck), the bus gate is often used instead of these swingeing lanes. The posts are set at the carbine which means that vehicles hit the posts before the tyres touch the curbing, adjusting the steer through in the vent of error. The purpose of the gates was to stop lorries shortcutting to the business parks, but this could be enforced by cameras and plate recognition technology and the lane opened up to a much more friendly and visually appealing vista. Removing the humps that jolt bus passengers would be an idea too.

Not fit for purpose. Terrible 12 post design. Requires perfectly alignment of the vehicle long before you enter the obstacles, exacerbated by the two close busy junctions/turnings and the Posts set in line with the kerbside leaving no room for error, at what has become Watford's biggest accident hotspot (what were you guys on?),
Q- If this design is so good, why haven’t we seen this anywhere else? Could it be, that it’s fundamentally flawed?
This needs to be redesigned
