In addition to risking women's lives and controlling women (one legislator has been quoted as saying that the destruction of fertilized embryos in fertility clinics is exempt from prosecution because there is no pregnant woman involved), this bill has no consequences for the other half of the pregnancy equation - men. There are TWO ingredients in creating human life and, according to the Alabama legislature, only one of them is required to suffer any consequences legally, morally, ethically, financially, socially, etc. We need to maintain the momentum of bringing Alabama OUT of the dark ages, not legislating us back INTO them.

Not only is this bill a travesty to women in the state, it is a(nother) black eye for the state as being seen as regressive and back woods...far from the image that we would like to project to prospective business, industry, and young professionals. And in a state that ranks near the bottom for infant and maternal health; and education, it is an expensive sham that we can ill afford. Please be responsible to the people of this state by repealing this bill.

I have friends/acquaintances from all over the Country that bash Alabama as a poor, uneducated, backwater State. This legislation tends to prove them right, but we citizens of this Great State no what a true privilege it is to live, work and raise our families here. Stop the embarrassment and stop this bill. We can and must do better!

Huge embarrassment for Alabama. Archaic and ignorant thinking behind this bill. This will put lives at risk and compromise the medical profession in Alabama as it applies to women's health. Embarrassing.

This bill puts lives at risk- and should be repealed immediately. It's also an unconstitutional embarrassment that will cost the state money it doesn't have to spare.

Politicians showing a total disregard for the democratic process and progress we have made in the human rights arena need to be removed ASAP. We can't take our rights and freedoms for granted so thank you to all who aren't sitting idly by.

Just when the State was coming out of its history of lynching, fire hoses, and Jim Crow laws, the leadership of the State passes a hateful piece of legislation that reinforces the beliefs and stereotypes of many outside Alabama. This makes it difficult for us to recruit talent to UAB and other worthy institutions within the State, jeopardizing our future.

This extreme bill sets back Alabama's reputation decades in the eyes of the rest of the country (and the world) by making us look like a bunch of backwards, heartless morons. It is sad to watch our elected state officials damage the reputation of the people of this state to a degree we have not seen since the '60's. #racetothebottom

Our state needs to stop being on the wrong side of history. Stop taking pride in being so backwards. Start investing in our future and making wise, long-term choices that represent what ALL residents want, not a tiny elite group with crazy conservative views.

This is a terrible bill and i’m sick and tired of our do nothing state legislature. They need to focus on education, rebuilding our infrastructure and expanding Medicaid in Alabama. Stop wasting time to assure yourselves of re-election, because many in this state do not feel the way you do.
