The passage of this bill and subsequent signing into law is tragic. The forward progress we have made in the last few years to change Alabama’s public perception, to retain our young professionals and tradespeople, to attract and retain top talent to our state, and to expand economic opportunity for all, has taken a huge step backwards with the passage of this draconian legislation. I join the authors of this letter in calling for a repeal of this law, anything short of repeal shows that our legislature and governor are widely out of touch with the very people who represent the greatest hope for progress in our state.
