Rape is more common than abortion but is not addressed as vigorously. This bill gives the impression that white men do not object to rape as they do to a woman’s attempt to deal with the aftermath of rape.

I, as a Democratic female Alabama State Senator, so appreciate the support we have received. After HB 314 was enacted, I introduced legislation to repeal HB314 and the Republican leadership sent it to the Senate Health Committee to die. I truly believe that my Republican colleagues will not repeal this law no matter the cost to the state of Alabama. To repeal it, we would have to be called into a Special Session by the Governor or when we go into the 2020 Regular Session. To boycott Alabama’s businesses, tourist attractions, etc. will only end up hurting low income people and those in need of critical services. You see, when there is a decrease in tax revenues, the first entities they will cut will be those agencies and programs that affect the poor. The ones who voted for HB314 won’t be affected personally at all. We need to elect more Democratic women and like minded Democratic men.

Governor Ivey, you have gone too far. You have no right interfering with a woman's personal and private healthcare decisions. You have signed this bill for your won political gains, and that is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Shame on you and all those idiot men that they think I am so stupid I can not decide for myself what is best for me.
