I, along with the undersigned athletes, parents and supporters who share my concerns, urge you to consider our petition and take the necessary steps to accommodate and support athletes and families living in New York so that they may participate and compete at the world championships without interference from their academic requirements.

The current schedule puts kids and parents in a tough spot. Some cannot attend because of testing/end of school. It’s what they work all season for. Worlds can be in April.
We are not in New York, but live in New England and a lot of the kids are still in school until late June. It would be great if Worlds could be pushed out a couple weeks in the summer to let all these athletes who have worked so hard be able to compete.
My son had missed the last two Worlds and also this year's due to Regents. It's frustrating to say the least after working so hard all season knowing they are not going to Worlds.
Over half of 40-50 competitors from Rochester, NY area will be unable to attend due to school conflicts. Compile that with the 150-200 competitors in the upstate region, many of our best will be forced to sit this event out. Hopeful that some contingency can be discussed between the WNL and the NY community.
The WNL has consistently ignored the concerns brought forward by the community when asked for feedback. The largest regions of the league are affected by this schedule but concerns fall on deaf ears year after year, while not providing any level of transparency around the decision to not adjust or attempt to accommodate.

Athletes should not be deprived of competing at Worlds because they still have school and important graduation level exams. Ninja is meant to be inclusive. By having Worlds at this time it is preventing a significant portion of the Ninja community from being able to compete. Please reconsider the timing of Worlds.
