WHEREAS the election for the Republican nomination for governor of Illinois was decided on March 21st, 2006
WHEREAS the winner of the aforementioned race was Judy Baar-Topinka, current state treasurer and resident of Riverside, Illinois, winning by a 38-32% margin over 2nd place finisher Jim Oberweis
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka, by her standing in the state Republican Party, demonstrates strong proof of being, at the very least, indirectly tied to the campaign of former Gov. George Ryan.
WHEREAS former Gov. Ryan is, at the time of this petition, currently on trial on federal corruption charges stemming from the license for bribes scandal from his prior position as Illinois secretary of state
WHEREAS rumors abound that Ms. Topinka may be under federal scrutiny as a result of her putative association with the Ryan Administration
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka has, in previous years, marched in annual Chicago Gay Pride parades, appearing in floats with avowed homosexuals and homosexual supporters as well as transsexuals and transvestites
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka, in her role as state treasurer, arranged for a $10 million loan for a homosexually run community center, herein known as the \"Center on Halsted\" AND physically participated in its groundbreaking ceremony
WHEREAS homosexuality is viewed by the consciences of mainline Christians, orthodox Jews and most Muslims as unnatural and incompatible with their religions, let alone sinful
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka stated on March 9th, 2006 in a Republican gubernatorial debate on ABC 7 TV that she would not sign legislation to ban abortion nor support a state marriage amendment, if such bills were to come to her desk as governor and
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka publicly stated in that debate that she supports civil unions for same sex partners
WHEREAS the Republican Party, by and large, rejects same sex marriage and homosexual civil unions, positions Ms. Topinka heartily endorses
WHEREAS the Republican Party platform has traditionally stood for the protection of unborn children in the womb, a position where Ms. Topinka\'s voting record has largely been in contrast
WHEREAS such positions are not only the antithesis of the national Republican Party platform but of the vast many culturally conservative voters in Illinois
WHEREAS the two pro-life and pro-traditional marrage Republican gubernatorial candidates, Jim Oberweis and State Sen. Bill Brady, garnered a combined majority 51% of the vote, more votes than the liberal leaning Topinka and Ron Gidwitz
WHEREAS most of Brady & Oberweis supporters are unlikely to back Ms. Topinka in the November general election, due to conflicts with their religious values
WHEREAS the pending desertion of these voters will likely give the reelection to current Gov. Rod Blagojevich
WHEREAS the state of Illinois is in critical need of a total housecleaning of both parties due to massive corruption inside its ranks and
WHEREAS Ms. Topinka is unlikely to take necessary action to clean up government in Springfield but instead likely to continue her participation
THEREFORE, we the voters of Illinois and signers of the following petition compel GOP nominee for governor, Judy Baar-Topinka, to promptly exit the governor\'s race and surrender the title of nominee to second place finisher Jim Oberweis.
The focus of this campaign continues to center on the integrity required for public office and the clear expectations held by the voters. I am currently evaluating the feedback provided in these comments to better understand how we might sharpen our presentation of these concerns to the public.

The momentum behind this call for accountability continues to grow in a way that suggests a genuine public desire for transparency. This response confirms that many people share these fundamental concerns about the integrity of our leadership.

Absolutely disappointed in her choices. She clearly isn't listening to the voters who put her there.
