The ability to rent our home provides the local area/businesses with much needed additional revenue. Without the ability to rent our home, it would be vacant much of the year. Now, when we have families renting the house, they are patronizing the local restaurants and shops.

I believe short term rentals are a positive force in the economy of a vacation town such as Wilmington.

This would have negative impact on other local businesses as the folks who come in to STRs are often spending money across town. Its unwelcoming to be this prohibitive which I am sure is not the intention of these new rules.

As proud part-time Wilmington residents, we hope to continue sharing our family vacation home with visitors when we can't use it ourselves. We love paying local businesses to help us maintain our home, and sending our guests to Dots, Starfire, 19 South Main, La Casita, Bartleby's, Creemee Stand - and all the other favorites we frequent we are in town!

Strongly opposed to limits on STRs in Wilmington and will vigorously pursue the defeat of this proposed restriction.

We can not afford our home in Wilmington without a few STR rentals. Our guests are quiet and respectful. Please don’t let a few bad experiences with STR ruin the good experiences that you hear less about because there is no need to. We are for reasonable regulations that would increase safety and respect for neighbors.

Our community is only possible because of the tourism that comes through. Without the ability for homeowners to rent out their homes when they are not using them themselves, the amount of people coming through will drastically decrease. Businesses will close and people will vacation in other areas of our state. With permitting and regulations for those who rent their houses, we can continue to safely show visitors how amazing our community is.

We support local businesses and reasonable STR regulations. An empty house generates zero revenue for the local businesses.

Do no shatter the local economy. The persons pushing the agenda to remove STRs are very short sighted. The economic impact of rentals keeps a majority of the residents in good financial health which should out weigh the complaints that are concentrated among just a small group of residents.

We love our community and want to support it. As owners of a STR, we value and appreciate the guests we are able to host. I believe there is a way to host responsibly, in a way that serves the community, the local economy, and the guests who wish to visit our beautiful area!

We purchased our home nearly two years ago. It was dilapidated after being neglected for years but was full of potential to be restored as a wonderful family home. We took a chance knowing that the property itself offered an opportunity for us to renovate and update, but even more so knowing that our time and efforts from both our own sweat equity as well as employing local contractors, cleaners, handymen, plumbers and landscapers would be a worthy investment for our future and the town we want to eventually reside full time. Restricting our rights to rent it to vetted, conscientious guests when we can't be using it would significantly limit or eliminate the contributions we're making to the Wilmington community, not only financially, but in preserving and maintaining a special property.

STRs allow us to enjoy, contribute to, and help preserve the unique community and culture of Wilmington. We believe that sensible regulation is the best path forward for the whole community.

Limiting and putting restrictions on short term rentals will hurt the community and businesses around the town. It will hurt home owners and business owners alike. Please don’t do this to the city.
