I think all of our children should feel safe and comfortable in school and any policy that is implemented should strive for that goal.

I disagree with both the boards way of trying to pass this petition and disagree with the special treatment that the very few transgender students get over the mass student population.

Any bulling policy that specifies a group that shall not be bullied, automatically makes all groups not specified less significant and less protected.

It is time to elect a school board that wil represent meeting the needs to provide a top rated educational experience for all. It is time for the board politics and advancing of personal policy agendas to end. If I had students still in Williamston schools I would move them out this board does not represent my values nor should they have the use of my taxes dollars. Let the recall of this Board be swift and effective.

This is the main reason we moved out of the district. Very disappointing.

As a parent of a Williamston student, I certainly hope the School Board realizes the dire consequences the school will face if this ridiculous policy is enacted.

Stop all ridiculous and wasteful "social engineering" projects like this and concentrate on educating students.

Do not force this policy through. I am a parent who loves his kids and want to always be a part of raising them. The proposals that the WCS board is forcing through desires to remove parents. DO NOT approve this proposed policy.

I strongly oppose Policy 8011. I will stand up to protect my children from this rushed, unnecessary policy. Please listen to the voices of all who are in opposition.

I am 100% against Policy 8011. I believe it hurts our kids, our schools, our families, and our community.

To be brief, my main concern with this new policy is the lack of due diligence and the disregard for parents influence in the life and well-being of their child. The students that fall into this category are at a significantly increased risk for suicide, substance abuse and other poor choices; teachers are not physicians or medical providers and whereas the latter have clear privacy laws/ethical standard that they must uphold, teachers do not when it comes to parents. These children are just that: children And parents need to know what their child is struggling with. Always. In addition the lack of "threshold" is concerning. Due to the increase risk that I just spoke of and the fact that pubescence is alredy a time of great confusion/distress, physicians/medical providers should be involved to ensure adequate issues are being addressed. To allow a student to make a huge decision like this (and then possibly switch back if confused?) the school system is setting itself up for lawsuits regarding sexual harassment (of all parties) and failure to act. No one should be bullied and kindness for all should be our desirable endpoint, but this proposed policy fails to address some basic core considerations as outlined above.

Extremely poor leadership and a breach of the trust that previously had been granted to the Board.

This policy is unlawful and exposes our children to issues without parental/guardian involvement. Our schools already have bullying and antidiscrimination policies which only need to be enforced.

My comments will be forthcoming in an email to the board.

Changing definitions based in a belief must be rejected. As a parent, It’s unacceptable opening the opportunity for our kids to be in danger losing their own privacy.

I feel this is an over reach for the school board and maybe they should worry a little bit more about the ridiculous debt that this school district is facing.
