I would suggest increasing the penalty to $1000 to match surrounding states.

As a former Montana resident, writer, and wildlife naturalist, who now lives in Granby, I will say that garbage cans being left out is the biggest problem we have in town, followed by residents intentionally feeding bears. I opt for bear-proof garbage bins supplied by the town and/or folks taking out garbage bins the morning of pick-up, not the night before.
There are many ways to deter bears from entering homes. Unfortunately, I have found little educational tools in CT to help people understand bear behavior. They are not the problem. We are.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP THIS MAN AND THE WOMEN ON MOUNTAIN ROAD FROM FEEDING THE BEARS, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY ARE DOING. The bears are becoming use to humans and not so afraid and that is bad for everyone!! $100.00 is not nearly enough, it should start at $1,000.00 for the 1st infraction, with the names written in the paper as an arrest with the fine. We need to get the point across.

I strongly support this petition. We have been having an increasing problem with bears on Lost Acres Road. They are getting way too comfortable living with us. It is not good for the bears or us.

Intentionally feeding and attracting bears should not be allowed...especially if for monetary gain.

This activity should be banned as it will change the bears' feeding patterns and quite possibly other behaviors. feeding bears when there is already a population explosion is ridiculous and dangerous.

This ordinance needs to be passed for the safety of all, including the Bears. The person on Mountain Road, who in large part is causing this petition, should be dealt with properly by law-enforcement, or by lawsuit from her directly affected neighbors. Why is their actual address on Mountain Rd. and or their name, never given publicly?

Trash is tricky, you don't want to keep it inside either, bears have broken into places due to smells :/

I totally support this...I love seeing the bears but not at the expense of having a person or pet injured.

A fed bear is a dead bear (or feeder!). Please don’t feed the bears!
