very short sighted to do this in Scotland's book capital, especially with the 2 big book festivals etc. & lots of exhibitions & things often on in the library.

As a local business owner and parent I am very saddened to think the council would even consider this cost cutting measure. The County Buildings has 49000 visitors per year and the library us a focal point for locals and visitors alike.

I realise that this matter is not finalised and will be discussed by the Council but it would be perverse in my mind if a decision was made to restrict hours of a library in Scotland's Book Town.

How can it be right to have the library in Scotland's BOOK Town open on only a very part time basis? Sure this wouldn't even be considered if it was Dumfries rather than Wigtown!

the public libraries were created for educational purposes which still apply today, so why do councils insist on closing them these days, it's short sighted as the whole purpose is to curb illiteracy especially in the national book town, it doesn't send out a very good message, does it!
