To increase wide boats licence is just another way of getting money from us

Seems C.R.T can't manage their finances and budget, wide beams have only access to a minority of the waterways which C.R.T do not seem able or capable of maintaining navigation on as they don't seem to realise that navigation needs to be maintained by regular maintenance not wait for the emergency call before taking action. Would be interesting reading to see percentage spends on the lines set against spending on office and management expenditure, and how much is spent on towpaths to make them available to walkers,cyclists and others who contribute nothing to the balance sheet so yes I am aggrieved at the increase to wide beams but if C.R.T were to play fair with all boaters and spread the load to all users , and manage their budget accordingly these actions would probably be accepted but possibly not needed. Come on C.R.T play fair

The basis of the increase is not clear. My experience shows narrow boats moving faster, creating more wear to banks than slower wide beams. The idea that two narrow boats share locks is laughable. Prior to imposing any increase CRT should be asked to confirm all boats on the water are licensed. CRT find that difficult so instead take the easy action against wide beams.

Having just returned from 8 years in France we were prepared for the extra costs of keeping a boat on British waterways. However we are totally opposed to the increase on the CRT licence just because we are a wide beam. We are only able to use a fraction of the system and therefore do not cause wear & tear on the system as do those who have the option to cruise all the system. Surely those permanently cruise should have been asked to put more into the funds? If there is a problem with people abusing the mooring system why are they not being taken to task. It seems to me that charging wide beams is the easy option. I did write to CRT regarding the extra charge and received the usual waffle reply. I also wrote & complained about the total waste of £60,000 on the "new" logo.

CRT claimed throughout the consultation that the only reason for the review was to simplify the License process & to remain Revenue Neutral. Neither have been achieved, therefore the Consultation has failed in every respect. CRT continuing to ignore their core customers & charitable status.

This an unfair decision of CRT there is a need to increase fees then it should be across the board. There are benefits for all whether on narrow or wide water. I would like Mr Parry and all the powers to be to tell us through Freedom of Information that he has tested all available waters.

By involving narrow beam craft there seems now to be a rift between the wide beam boats and the narrowbeam boats. It is very unfair that wide beam boats have to pay more than a narrow beam of the same length. Mooring makes no difference, locking makes no difference in fact nothing makes any difference. Yes my choice to buy a wide beam boat and I accept that I cannot access all of the waterways but to charge more for that is totally wrong.

Having taken the time to complete the consultation document and giving my views, I feel that the decisions CaRT eventually made were not right and penalise a group that can’t access everything they are being asked to pay for. The responses to date have been mainly it was your decision to by a bigger boat so tough or we didn’t get many complaints. So out of touch with the boating community. What they have definitely succeeded in doing is creating a division within that community and seem more concerned with engaging with people who can take pleasure from our Waterways but not contribute to it’s upkeep. To say that I am disappointed with CaRT an understatement.

As the owner of a 37 ft cruiser moored on a very large ship canal I find it hard to comprehend how I take too much space. My vessel is tiny compared to the vessels this canal was designed for.

Just bought a wide beam. I will have less choice on moorings and navigation. However, I will not be wasting water whilst using a lock on my own. Surely that counts for something with CRT

River witham is a wide beam river which has been overrun by narrowboats making it impossible for me to moor my hairline mirage on the inadequate available moorings

If you increase it has to be fair, why would you pick on certain size boats. Let's hope with all that extra money you create beetle mooring spaces nor deralucy delaperdated walls. Very few electric hook ups, let alone basic toilet and shower vasilties. You really should hang your heads in shame. Maybe a visit to Belgium and France to open your eyes on what we are missing out on in this country. Poverty rock !!

its not fair to raise prices on widebeam licenses its already twice the price of the french canals and you get much much less for your money
