A Vote on Trans Women Joining Women's Institutes

Trans women are men identifying as women. They are not biological women. Should only be for biological women.

It is important that we are clear about the difference between sex and gender and that women are allowed to define ourselves as women in a way which does not include males. It is discrimination against men to allow some men to join a women's group and not others. It is perfectly reasonable to have a women's institute for women and for another, mixed sex, group to be set up if males want to join in similar activities.

I have recently made enquiries about joining the WI, but as they are now declaring themselves a mixed-sex organisation, will be looking elsewhere for a group that takes women's issues seriously.

It the WOMENS institute

Woman is not a feeling, humans cannot change their sex. I am completely against males being allowed into legal biological female only spaces. Trans women are men.

The WI was built by females, for females. Gender identity ideology should not have been allowed to enable makes to join.

If men are allowed in to the WI I’ll start an alternative that is only for women. PLEASE just let women have something for themselves.

Wi should be for women

I cannot join the WI because it no longer supports women. I support its original aims.

Natal females need and deserve male free places to meet. Makes being present change the dynamic. There are many other groups TW can join where I would feel comfortable welcoming them into, however since the WI is one of the few female only groups (or was) I feel this should be preserved.

Males can set up a men's institute with other y chromosomes in their male bodies and campaign for male issues. Women should be able to campaign on issues relating to women and those with every xx cell in their body.

I will not join the Women’s Institute while it is a mixed sex group which it currently is.

I intended to join WI but won’t whilst it’s a mixed sex organisation.

I was interested in joining the WI as a women's only group, but then realised it wasn't so did not pursue it further. Disappointed.

Men cannot be women. Autogynephiles should not be in women’s spaces

I was interested in joining my local WI now that I have more time. I decided not to once I realised that the WI now admits trans women i.e men.

I gave up on plans to join my local Women's Institute when I discovered they were no longer single sex. Either revert to being single sex, or change the name, as you are no longer an organisation for women.

As an 83 year old woman I am appalled that the WI no longer represents me as a woman whilst you have allowed men to join. Sadly the organisation is not what it set out to be. I have 4 daughters and grandaughters whom I have discouraged from joining. Do you not think us women have gone through enough in our lives without now being pushed aside by men who declare they are women. Shame on you all for destroying the WI on the excuse of ‘being inclusive’. What about women?

It should remain a single sex organisation.
