A Vote on Trans Women Joining Women's Institutes

Lancashire Federation. I believe the WI should be for biological women only and not have male members however they identify.

Just get a grip and use the Equality Act 2010 single-sex exception!

I am if the opinion that the WI is a women’s group, to include men however they identify, or have modified their bodies, they are not women

I would not join WI because it is not a woman only space.

Women means women. Look it up in the dictionary.

Transwomen are transwomen, not women, and that’s fine. Maybe there could be a TransWomen’s Institute?

Can't women (aka the 50% of the population that's female) even have one thing to ourselves?! Haven't we all been through enough? Use the single sex exceptions the law provides. Sorted.

I decided not to join the WI because of this policy, and joined an alternative women's organisation instead.

To be honest I know all about Autogynephile men as my Uncle was one. Over 90% of Men claiming to be Women are fully intact males, getting off on dressing as their dream female self. Please look at the Trans Widows website to get the other side of being in a marriage with one of these men. I wouldn’t join your organisation if Autogynephile men were allowed to be members. I would feel really uncomfortable.

Females need spaces away from males. It is allowed using the single sex exceptions in the equality act.

Woman means woman. We are not a concept or a stereotype in a man’s head

Tell these men to create their own organisation. Aping the stereotypical trappings of a woman makes a mockery of gender nonconforming members. These men have no experience of the core issues that specifically affect women, too numerous to mention here.

The WI is for women. Not for men, however they might identify.

If males are allowed to join and remain in the organisation - its no longer a women’s only organisation. If its not a single sex based organisation then the name needs to be changed to People’s Institute as its disingenuous and false advertising otherwise.

I think this is a very important issue and should be robustly risk assessed and debated before any conclusion is reached.

There are very few places women can go and just spend time with women. Once men are able to join groups (however they may identify) the nature of the group is altered.
