I am not currently a member of a Women's Institute, but give talks for my local branches, and am very aware that the vast majority of women (in fact all in the two branches I occasionally speak at) are very unhappy with having men included as part of their number, no matter how those men identify. They also feel that they are not allowed to speak out against this policiy, and when they try are made to feel that they are the ones at fault.

I declined membership on our newly formed village, WRI, when the advisors were thrilled to invite trans-identifying men into the group. No thanks – if I want to join a group for women, I want it to be for actual women… not men play-acting.

It’s outrageous! I couldn’t believe a man in dress was there cover last year. I was actually approached to run some sessions and I work with women only. So no way! Even our local institution keeps posting about being trans inclusive. Sad time for this institution.

I was married to an AGP man. Whilst I am of an age and inclination to join a group like the Women’s Institute, I will not do so whilst there is an acceptance of transwomen of joining too. I would not devote my time and energy knowing that at any time a man who wishes for women to collude in his sexual fetish could join and I would have to leave as a result.
