The WI should vote on this- if any man can self ID in order to join the WI then it is no longer women only!

No men in women’s spaces; they have plenty of power and ability to make their own.

The fact that WI membership is based on gender and not sex has been a main reason I have been hesitant to join.

Women's spaces, women's groups exist because the material reality of womanhood is different from that of males and our bodies and our experiences as women are informed by historic prejudices and inequality that still exist for women in all walks of life. Identity is not reality. I support the WI women's declaration (and so does my Mum, a long standing member).

I was wanting to join, but now this policy has caused me concern with the out of control trajectory of men who are able to say they are women in any different ways, some are for disturbing and nefarious reasons. I would be afraid to have share space with a man who might be displaying a fetish. I find this disturbing
There is a relative I sometimes have to endure who there is no doubt it is fetish(and mental health) he relishes cause distress to his female relatives and other women. How can we know the difference
Women need places that are ours alone away from men. And men need their men in sheds or similar gatherings. Cannot transpeople set up similar. There are places we can all gather together, but we should be allowed to gather deperately too
The WI should have consulted each and every mber before making such a policy.

Glad that some women in WI are rebelling against this nonsense. I may join my local group if the NFWI change thier policy.

I find it shocking that the decision to accept trans-identified males into a woman-only organisation was taken without properly consulting members. Time to rectify that.

I don't wish for current ideology to be given priority above women's rights to have a sex based club. Trans groups have great organisations already there to help their needs. Women should have their own group that understands the issues only women can have experienced.

Women are human females, and we have specific needs and rights based on the reality of our sex. Men should, of course, be free to express themselves as femininely as they wish - but it is impossible to change sex or to address our sex-based needs when "woman" means "person of either sex". Women - female humans - need the WI to remain single sex and honest about their purpose and membership.
