A Vote on Trans Women Joining Women's Institutes

WI unfortunately would not be something I now could join as not an adult human female safe space

I joined my local WI last night and would welcome this discussion.

The WI should be for born women not men who are choosing to dress as if they are women.

I’m in two WIs. They are a safe space for women. If men are allowed to join it will change the nature of the organisation.

Men in any space change the dynamics for the women present.

Women are not a bunch of clothing that you put on we have a biological reality. Men in any form will change the narrative.

We will not be silenced

Woman should have spaces that are for biological females only. Men in any form should not be able to muscle in on our rights.

Women's Institute is a place where women go to chat, make friends and learn new skills, hobbies, volunteering etc. Conversations cover a wide range of topics from health, family, hobbies, volunteering etc. It is a place where women can meet, relax and enjoy each others company without the presence of men. Allowing men, regardless of how they identify, to join will change this special dynamic. I am currently looking at rejoining WI and being honest, if men are allowed to join I don't think I will bother. Men do not know how women feel, how society views them and I certainly don't want a man impersonating a woman and telling me he "understands how I feel" when he has no idea.

I had considered joining but will not do so why this continues.

No men in women's spaces.

I really hope the WI reverses its current position on allowing males to join what should be a female group.

I am woman, a biological female. Biological sex is important to safeguard women and their spaces. Women’s Institute should be for biological women only. I was about to join but now I will wait.

Having fought for women's equality, we need to ensure we retain safe spaces for women and girls

Women’s Institute - women only.

No biological man can become a biological woman - a feminine man yes but never a woman and therefore have no place in women-only spaces even if they have had the surgery.

I am not a member of WI yet but imagine I might join my village branch in Ingatestone when I am older. The presence of men pretending to be women in the group would put me off to the extent that I would not join. Please change your policy to restrict membership to biologically female.

I was considering joining now I've retired. I am a little disappointed with the decisions made without membership vote.
