The denial of the basic reality of sex in favour of a belief about gender is making women and girls less safe and able to achieve in certain spheres like sports. This is already being seen. Trans people of all types can be respected without eroding women’s spaces.

The WI was a much-valued sanctuary for my mum, who appreciated its mission to advance learning and education of women and girls away from the male gaze. Tragic that this haven for women has lost its purpose.

Try asking a Vet if s/he would record the sex of an animal with a penis as a female and see how far you get.
Biological males cannot become females.
Why does this have to (keep) be(ing) explained ?!

Thank you for doing this. It is reallyy shocking how many people just don't understand what is happening. Prioritising gender (social construct of stereotypes) above biological reality is frankly ridiculous, and puts women's rights back decade's.

If the women of the WI are happy to include transwomen, then that would be fine, although I would suggest a change of name to be clear, but they should be given the choice. The philosophical belief that transwomen are women is not universal, and to base a material change in the membership on the basis of this belief is grossly unfair without reference to the current members. This is very underhand work by the committee, although typical of the gains achieved by the trans movement - don't ask those affected and call them bigots if they complain.
