The Women's Institute has existed for decades to provide a space for women to come together and discuss female issues, be creative, campaign & organise in a women-centred space. And have a space away from the male Establishment (often in rural areas) in a society where everything is designed for, and default, male. if the WI wants to turn mixed sex, that is their choice (and I can definitely see some benefits from men who would very much enjoy crafting, cooking and pursuing non-traditional -masculine activities) ; what they should not do is permit only some males, on a "self-identifying" basis. To do so repurposes the WI as a playground for a few fetishizing, attention seeking males to perform femininity. Membership should not be defined by how closely one performs femininity. Before, the WI has been a space women to be free from the pressure to perform femininity and centre men. Women's spaces are still needed because one in three women in this country has been the victim of domestic and/ or sexual violence; there are 1000s of women of faith who do not want to or cannot, socialize with men. So this is not inclusive; it is simply defaulting to centering a self-created special caste of males, who have no respect for women's boundaries and who do not tolerate female only spaces. I support a democratic transparent decision-making process for the WI.

I feel that the W.I. should be specifically for "real" women. Surely the clues in the name. Trans can have their own organisation. Women have had to fight for everything they have obtained.

Trans women are not women. Being a woman is not a "lived experience" as described by Melissa Green. It is a biological fact that you cannot change sex - any other belief is a delusion. Women's sports and spaces are being invaded by biological men. Mediocre biological male athletes now win women's sporting titles with associated prize money and fame. Hard to get sponsorship and scholarships for women and girls are now being taken by biological men and boys. Women's prisons , changing rooms , toilets , refuges and WI meetings are no longer safe spaces for women . What has happened to the WI that they are not up in arms about this and fighting to protect women's spaces and women's rights ? Our suffragette sisters must be turning in their graves. It has taken a hundred years for the rights of women to be put into law in the UK . Women have a huge fight on their hands to stop the eradication of those rights. The WI is now actively promoting the eradication of those rights by allowing trans identified males into our membership and meetings.
The hypocrisy of the WI regarding Female Genital Mutilation ( FGM ) is also very evident. Every year in the WI have campaigns/ articles about FGM and yet thousands of children and the mentally ill are being mutilated and sterilised right now by Gender Reassignment Surgery and cross sex hormones - all for paid for by the NHS. Again where is the support from the WI for these vulnerable people who are unable to give consent ?

Identifying as a woman does not make you a woman, only your genetic DNA can and does make a woman from birth, gtp a science fact that women do not have male genitalia, and do not need hormone treatment to reduce it to 'become one'. Girls and women need our own safe space and protection.

No one can change sex. A very high percentage of men claiming to be Trans are AGP , keep their genatals , enjoy invading women’s spaces. Women need single sex placed and the EA supports this .

I feel this should be a space for women (born women) to share our interests and discuss aspects of being a woman in the world, with our unique experiences and biology.

A man who has had their genitalia removed is called a Eunuch not a woman. A transgender person has no cervix, a womb or breasts and can't have babies. A female is biologically determined at birth she doesn't have a penis. God made Adam and Eve to reproduce and fill the earth. The W.I. should be sending a resolution to the PM and Education Minister to prevent drag queens going into schools polluting the minds of young children by telling them there are 75 genders, which is child abuse at the highest level. Our neighbours son aged 12 was told off and sent out of the class the other day because he said a family consisted of a man, woman and children. His father phoned the headmaster to complain. I have heard this same thing happening in many other schools. Sorry it's the world gone mad.

If someone has gone through gender reassignment surgery and has therefore committed fully to bring a woman and have a current gender recognition certificate I believe they could be members. However sex and gender are being conflated by gender ideologists and the WI is specifically for to support women with issues specific to their sex and letting anyone in who ‘ feels’ like they are a woman goes against the principles.

With the acceptance of transwomen in WIs, it therefore must be that the WI does not support ‘women only’ spaces for natal women. I find this a great worry.

I have wanted to join for a while. I have always voted Labour.
But I shall do neither if either organisation allow blokes to impinge and destroy or make a mockery of my human rights as a female.
