Highway #1 Bypass around the City of Regina: Why Tower Road?

This is simply another frayed attempt by the government to pull the wool over the eyes of the tax paying public. I have lived in White City, and now reside in east Regina. I have travelled the world and been to virtually every major city center in Canada. The ridiculous nature in which the east end of this beautiful city has been developed points to only two possible explanations. The first is that city planning, development, municipal government, and engineers are simply inept and have no reasonable idea as to how to properly plan a civil develop. Or two, the powers that be are compliant in awarding illegal contracts to developers and firms with interests staked, not in the public good, but in their own profits. Either way, this obvious disaster of a project is our government bodies being complacent in the theft of millions of dollars of our taxes, or they are compliant....end of story. We have the talent, the resources, and the time to make smart moves as a city and province....or we can forget leaving the next generation with anything but mistakes and misfortune. It will all depend if we allow democracy to prevail or corporate greed. Wise up Regina, and let's start using our ccommon sense and diligence to find sustainable solutions that are in the best interests of the communities that are footing the bills. The last thing this city needs is developments, especially a new mall and big box stores. We are hurdling ourselves towards major market corrections because we have allowed our progress to be dictated by the corporations. If this recession does hit home and people feel the pinch, do you think the big box store is going to position itself as a force for good and give back to the struggling community, or do you see then picking up, leaving town and selling off the monstrosity that caused $1 billion to make happen. Again, let's start to use our heads and be a place to be proud of.

Please sign this petition, it is ludicrous that a project this costly is happening when the state of the roads we need to travel on everyday to go to work, school, etc., is crumbling! Fix what needs to be fixed before making new projects! As residents we deserve it!

The growing cost and lack of transparency on this project is a significant concern for the future of this city. Increasing property tax to fund this project will clearly have folks looking else where to live. Saskatoon's parks, ball parks and recreational facilities make it an inviting choice for young families, that cannot be said for the City of Regina. The project will eliminate the new ball park off of Tower Road.
