Think of the elementary school kids who will be arriving at home before their older siblings with no one to watch and help them. More families will have to get daycare. But maybe you knew that, hmm WPS?

I agree. Also, with extracurriculars starting after school at the WHS, programs will be forced to meet before school, resulting in the same wake-up time, but having less homework time due to the later release.

If sleep deprivation is the primary concern, the school board should also evaluate the quantity of homework assigned to students. Otherwise, little will be accomplished (if anything).

I would rather not do AP Calc past midnight after football practice

I think that pushing back the start times is not in the students' best interest. Pushing back start times would push back ending times, meaning after-school activities would also be pushed back, resulting in the same amount of sleep.

I agree that starting later is not the answer. Don't change times, especially to the late time at CMS. If the kids do any activities, whether school sports or otherwise, they will not have time for homework. So either eliminate homework and change the times or keep as is please!!

This will push kids to stay up later and make less time for homework and extracurriculars.

Please keep our start time the same, for those who play high school sports will get home super late from practice and on game days it will be close to 7,8 or even 9.

Plus, driving to school on late start days is stressful because it's during the time adults drive to work. Because the school currently starts at 7:30, we avoid all that traffic, which also results in less car accidents. If we have to compete with the daily work traffic rush, I would most likely only leave 45 mins later that I do now. Is 45 mins extra of sleep worth missing extra classes for out of school activities, more traffic, and getting home later?

If we get out of school later, sports ends later, and homework takes just as long. In reality if we end 50 min later, we go to sleep 50 minutes later

As an honors student and AP student, I know that I will get the same amount of sleep. I go home, do my homework, and then go to bed. Making a later start time would only increase my usual bedtime of 11 to 12.

I hope you take this into consideration, people who are busy with sports and schoolwork would really appreciate this staying the same. This isn't as big of a problem, and parents are the ones who are making the decisions, not us. We deserve to have a say, not just the school board.

Late starts will only push back after school activities whih will mean that sports will be playing in the dark longer than before and also, the darkness will make people more tired and especially for me, I start to feel like it's super late once it gets dark out so don't do as proficient homework

Many students at WHS have jobs and participate in after-school activities. Changing the start times, while considered with the best intent, is not the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
Before the school board makes any changes, the should ask the opinions of the people that it will impact, as opposed to adults who do not always know the whole story behind each student.
Thank you for making this petition!

I don't want to stay at school past 3:00 it gets rid of leisure activity time
