Whole Foods: Allow customers to use their own produce bags and bulk containers!
Whole Foods does not currently allow their customers to use their own produce bags, or containers to fill with dry goods. As part of an environmental movement to cut down on the habitual use of plastic, Whole Foods should allow the use of personal refillables, as they do the use of personal grocery bags. There are many other stores country wide that allow this, so the FDA food code 3-304.17 is not the issue.
Whole Foods: step up and be a leader in the elimination of single use plastics!

I honestly logged on just now and saw the counter hit two hundred and fifty signatures and I had to blink a few times because I really thought this would just be a quiet thing floating in the void. It is wild that so many of you care about refillable containers as much as I do when I am standing there trying to weigh my oats.

I just saw we hit one hundred signatures which is honestly way more than I ever expected when I started this because I figured people might just think it was a weird request. It is funny how just wanting to bring a jar for my lentils turned into this whole thing but I am glad so many of you get why this actually matters.

I really thought this might just float around in the void for a while but seeing all these people backing the idea of bringing our own jars is actually making me vibrate with excitement. It is honestly bizarre to think that something as simple as wanting to avoid plastic bags could bring so many people onto the same page so quickly. I have been running around my kitchen trying to imagine how seamless it would be to just fill my own bins at the store and now it feels like maybe that is actually going to happen.

I would love to go back to shopping at Whole Foods! Please allow reusable containers when the law allows it and push for better laws when it doesn't. Businesses promoting these positive changes is the easiest way to make a big difference in the amount of trash we leave in the oceans and landfills.
While Whole Foods is my closest grocer i it to walk farther to visit a store that allows me to purchase in bulk I’m my own bags and jars. This arbitrary policy is causing you to lose business.
This is so important! As a zero waste advocate in Montgomery, AL, I would love to use my own bulk containers since I often shop at Whole Foods. It’s the only healthy Market around! It would even save the company money by not having customers use as many plastic containers. Thanks for your consideration!
I would shop more at Whole Foods if this was allowed. Maybe training the staff to be comfortable in knowing how to use the tare on the scales would help? It can be a little tricky I know. But it’s vital that we make this change for the environment and future generations.
Since going lower impact/ zero waste, stores that do not allow me to use my containers have been nixed from my shopping routine; meaning my weekly shopping no longer occurs at whole foods. We should all strive to do better!
We need to work together to save our planet! The whole foods butcher manager at two locations near me refuses to fill my reusable clean containers. I am moving towards a more vegan lifestyle because of it but my husband and children still want to eat meat. We need a grocery store to step up to help change our world and lead the way in reducing our waste and helping our planet.
Please change this system and let us cut down on plastic use!

Please make a store-wide policy to allow customers to bring their own containers to shop rather than allowing different stores in different areas to have different policies, and please educate employees on local rules and laws instead of letting them misinterpret them.
