This crossing is really unsafe. Urgently needs some improved safety measures.

A very good idea, pity one could not have a road bridge, but with economy as it is that is asking too much!

Provision of a footbridge would be good but the crowd waiting for the gates to rise include mothers with push chairs and people with bikes. the walkway would have to be wide enough and gentle enough to accommodate these items or there would have to be a list of prohibited users.

the crossing is certainly dangerous for pedestrians and a footbridge would help people generally who are on foot

This would really benefit the area and be additional safety feature especially for all the young children

This should be top priority. An underpass would be better but this is a relatively cheap way of solving a pressing problem.

This footbridge is very much needed to make the crossing really safe.

NIGHTMARE CROSSING

As a local resident, driver, and parent, i have often found this crossing particularly dangerous, not only in terms of volume of kids and traffic, but of the aggression of drivers who behave in a way that encourages crossing the railway without a clear space ahead. This is compounded by the entry and exit ways on south and north walpole walk, where there is often misunderstandings between motorists about who has the right of way. A fatal accident will happen at this railway if it is not amended to include a footbridge AND if the adjacent turning points on the walpole ways are not addressed.

Yes - not only is the footfall great, including schoolchildren, but the traffic often accelerates down towards the level crossing in order to cross it before it closes again. I have even seen one crazy idiot overtake, going at least 50-60 mph. The car screamed passed me inches away from the pavement.

Good idea, which has my full support. But where would you put it? Both approaches are too narrow - maybe acquiring some land from Ruffles on one side, but still a problem on the other. In the meantime, stopping vehicles turning right into Worple Way after the crossing would make it much safer for pedestrians, and reduce congestion.
