White Hart Lane Footbridge- Barnes

I use the crossing every day to take my son to school and it is incredibly dangerous with loads of children in very close proximity to cars.... and everyone in a hurry!

By placing a foot bridge a the White Hart Lane level crossing a built up of waiting pedestrians on the already too narrow pavement will be avoided. A new foot bridge will improve safety and pedestrian flow. Overlooking should not be an issue. Take the foot bridge at the 209 bus station at the end of Avondale Road as an example with adjacent housing on both sides East and West.

A foot bridge would be amazing - its a wonder there aren't more accidents there as it is, with kids running to get across.

A footbridge is badly needed. Never mind the waiting (which is bad but not life threatening). The safety of pedestrians and especially children is paramount and the crossing is dangerous: there is a very narrow pedestrian walkway over the railway alongside cars/vans etc trying to get across; bad corners on either side with vehicles turning into and out of North and South Worple Ways and Railwayside; speeding drivers trying to "beat" the barrier and general congestion.

This crossing is an accident waiting to happen. The congestion of cars and people through a narrow opening only takes on slip and we will have a tragedy that could have been avoided with the Footbridge.

All, As a parent of four young children that use the railway crossing at White Hart Lane everyday, I believe that it is of utmost importance to get this proposal going and build the footbridge. Kind regard, Marcelo.

As a governor at Barnes Primary School, I feel it imperative that a safe way of crossing the tracks at White Hart lane be found. The combination of railway, adjacent junctions and narrow roads and pavements is inherently dangerous. Only fortune has prevented a serious accident to date.

It is such a busy level crossing and so many children from Barnes primary school use the crossing we desperately need a footbridge. The cars cross quickly over the rail tracks and it's very narrow. Often there can be a lorry unloading which blocks one way of traffic shortly after you've gone over the railway line causing cars to mount the pavements and cause serious concern for pedestrians.

Please add my name to this petition to help increase the safety for all our families crossing the narrow walkways at White Hart lane.

I live close the crossing and use it several times a day. I have had numerous near misses affecting me and my three children. I would strongly support the building of a footbridge over the level crossing. If it is important enough for St Mary Magdelens School to have speed bumps and a footbridge, it is important enough for the much greater numbers walking to Barnes Primary School and East Sheen Primary twice and often three times a day.

As a local resident who regularly uses this crossing with my family I am very keen to see a foot bridge put in place.

Crossing the railway line on foot with my two children often feels like taking our lives in my hands. Cars regularly impinge on the yellow painted footpath to move around other vehicles waiting to turn off the main road. This is a route with heavy child footfall with a primary school on the north side and the area's secondary school on the south side. A footbridge is necessary and urgent.

This is so necessary for safety.

It is high time a footbridge was built at the White Hart Lane crossing. I use the crossing with my children at least twice a day during term time. I have witnessed many heart-stopping instances, including people becoming very impatient and jumping over the barriers- sometimes lifting their bikes over it!

Anything you could do to lessen the amount of time the barriers are down would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.

This crossing needs to be made safer for those who use it as a matter of urgency. I witness near misses on the school run every week and it is just a matter of time until someone is hurt. Narrow pavements, multiple junctions and volume of traffic and pedestrians make it particularly unsafe for children.

I ride a bike almost everywhere and every day. I cross this crossing regularly. A footbridge wide enough to carry a bike would be a good safety addition provided each step is safe and wide enough for size 12 boots. What about it if we can see Ruffles and allotments. Have I been missing something? And if we are likely to have to wait then we should organise our time to allow for it and have convivial chats with neighbours while waiting. Doing nothing is good for the soul. Timetables always have to change.That's why we have them!
