How Does Our Board Spend Our Millions?
We don't know.
The APA board has internal rules that disallow you from having a copy of your union's financial statements. The board actively keeps documents about your money out of your hands.

I petition the Administrative Professional Association (APA) Chairman and Board, in accordance with the APA Constitution (http://www.msuapa.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/APA_CB_Adopted_8-2010.pdf), to put a Yeah or Nay vote to the membership to amend the APA Bylaws to include this in the duties of the treasurer:
The APA Treasurer shall publish web-based copies of independently audited APA annual financial statements, and all APA board-passed budgets, for the most recent five years. The financial statements shall include the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement. These financial statements and budgets shall be displayed on the official APA website for all members to view, available at all times.

NEW SECRECY - Sometime between July 3 and July 5 the link to our union constitution, APA Constitution and Bylaws, was removed from the APA website home page (http://www.msuapa.org/). A search of "constitution" also fails. Maury Koffman and Jennifer Shangraw are the most likely board members that did this. I speculate that they did this to try and thwart this petition drive. Someone(s) on the board don't want you to see your Constitution. The link in our petition (http://www.msuapa.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/APA_CB_Adopted_8-2010.pdf) still works.
Per past practice, the APA Board will reject this petition for failing to follow their guidelines. But they, in the process, refuse to provide any policies regarding petitions. I'm still signing the petition.
Almost 2 million a year and we have no idea where it goes? Thats insane. We deserve to see the books.
FINALLY someone is asking the right questions. transparency is not optional when it is our own paychecks funding this.

Our APA Constitution and Bylaws were restored to the APA website. At Tuesday's board meeting, Maury announced that for unknown reasons those were absent [two days after our petition drive started], and that they are investigating to find out why.
