This clearly exposes his gigantic ego and the amount of racial prejudice. He was so confident that his insult against Chinese men won't bring him much trouble. Or, the consequence is so trivial that he won't care.
Traditional Chinese teaching advises people to forgive, or stay away from conflict, which is often misinterpreted in western culture as being timid. This is dangerous to both sides as the ignored conflict can grow into something violent.
