Wharton Professor Peter Linneman should be FIRED for racism

He should apologize publicly. As a Wharton alumni it's outrageous to know there's racist professor at our campus.

It is a horrible shame and disgrace he has shown to the public with the statement during the conference talk given that he is a highly educated man under god's will and granted professorship. His ugly prejudice and arrogance, unacceptable ignorance and childishness has demonstrated who he is and the evil mind set he has. Linerman's remarks is very shameful. Discrimination can happen due to race, line of work, gender, etc. every group has outstanding people. Linerman must think he earned the right as elite and the right to discriminate based on looking , but this very thought put him at the level of a trash. I think one day he will be judged by himself and his wife and children as trash.

A lot of these comments and signatures are coming from people who don't even go to the University of Pennsylvania nor attended this interview with Peter Linneman and Sam Zell. As a student at Penn who actually attended the interview, I've gained invaluable knowledge from my classes and from attending similar events. Surprisingly, I've even learned from those who may hold views or say things contrary to my own beliefs... For Xiao Ma from Falls Church to compare Professor Linneman, who has had an outstanding career and is respected throughout the academic community, to Hitler, a man infamous throughout history for mass genocide, is outrageous. And after paying tens of thousands in tuition to learn, to think that I may be deprived of the best education I can receive at my institution because of some anonymous petition from people that don't even go to this University is even more ridiculous. To the people who don't attend Penn but decided that their opinions should limit my own education and learning, I understand that there may have been an insensitive remark made by the professor. But if the Penn community really wants to address this issue for positive change, we should keep the conversation as relevant as possible by focusing the dialogue around those who actually hold a stake in the decision. Allowing student- and community-led discussion would be a much better solution, rather than looking to fulfill a petition with anonymous signees comparing a well-respected university professor to Hitler. These people should honestly mind their own business instead of trying to unilaterally impinge their safe space on students who pay to attend the school.
