While we no longer have children attending Westwood Charter, I think it would be a great disservice to the many families in our neighborhood to redraw the boundaries. Westwood charter is 7 “short” blocks away from us; we are certainly part of the immediate community around the school. We used to walk/scooter/bike to school and it was a short and convenient trip. The 405 freeway and the commercial district near the freeway act as a natural boundary to a neighborhood. Redrawing the school boundary lines to have kids from our area go to Sterry would mean crossing the 405 and in effect means that the kids would be in a different neighborhood. There are plenty of potential ways to accommodate existing population into Westwood charter. Adding 1-2 additional temporary structures would be one solution.

We moved to Bentley Avenue so our children could attend Westwood Charter. Our children are older now, but I’m very much opposed to splitting the neighborhood by assigning some students to a school on the other side of the 405. It would be a blow to the community that has grown up around WWC.

If redrawing the boundaries would force those properties affected to attend Sperry El, then property values will most likely drop. I'm a real estate agent and homeowner in the area, and in comparing condo prices (most of Sperry's district are apt and condos), there's a 10-15% difference in price between WWC's area and Sperry's. It won't be fair to those affected by the redrawing. Allowing those properties affected to be allowed to go to Warner would be better, but as the petition mentions, would hinder the ability of the families affected to walk or bike to school in a timely manner.

The proposed boundary change seems based on over crowding of TK, to change the boundary for the entire school based on this seems an over reach and a drastic measure..

Proposal 1 and 3 are fine. 2 is not an option. Nora Sterry is Sub Optimal and the location of the "other" side of the 405 makes it impossible.

This new trial to reset the boundaries is not approriate for residents who have been living in to send thier kids to Charter school. Ridiculous!!

there is no real good reason for this change. All it will do is hurt the children already in this area for the school which the parents reside specifically for Westwood Charter. What will this accomplish accept upset tax paying residents who should have a voice.
