I will cancel my membership if this is allowed! What about the rights of those of us ( the vast majority ) who find this offensive?

I will not participate in any YMCA activities or be a member if this is allowed. The safety of my children and myself is more important. Where are our rights?

How does the YMCA plan to uphold the rights of those who are NOT transgender or confused about their gender identity? This is not a family-friendly policy at all. You are merely caving into the pressure GLBT lobby which doesn't represent the majority of the population. (not even close!) This is bad policy.

The innocence and safety of children is considered to be paramount in virtually every aspect of society - except when such efforts conflict with GLBT interpretations.
The YMCA's privacy policy is nowhere to be found on their website, but per further research it's clear that employees will not even be allowed to question a person's gender as they enter a shower or changing room - or take any action to challenge it. The opportunity for abuse here is extremely high, and the YMCA supplies no answer for the obvious 'what if' and 'how are you going to prevent the possibility' questions.
The YMCA is free to ignore the obvious, and I am free to notice that there are two genders of our species and biological gender is neither optional nor inconsequential to the human person. My family will not seek a membership with the YMCA

We just moved into the West St Paul, and will wait to join until we are assured there is a separate private place where someone of the opposite sex isn't gawking at us.
How do you know sex offenders aren't taking advantage of your liberal policy?

I believe it is opening a lot of doors that could really cause a lot of trouble. We put young people at risk for sexual abuse, and we're giving sex offenders another avenue by opening lockers to anyone.

I have already expressed my concern with the amount of nudity that is allowed at the YMCA and the thought of now allowing any gender in the lockers is pornography!

Having a man in women's locker room is disrespectful. Changing your gender doesn't change the fact that you were created man and should respect women's view on this issue.

I guess when they lose all their members and aspiring member like me, they will respect the views of straight individuals and their families. Enough said.

I am not at all comfortable with a man in the women's locker room, even if he wants to be a woman. Praying for wisdom in this matter.

Respect must be shown both ways and this isn't respect if I don't want to see a man in the lady's restroom even though he feels like a woman.

This policy and policies like it endanger women and children. There should be solutions which provide transgender individuals privacy and safety without subjecting women and young children to unwanted exposure and contact with possibly predatory males - who have provided NO DOCUMENTATION as to their situation. Why are you allowing your organization to teach young women and children that it is OK for grown fully biological males to expose themselves - with or without their consent - in their most vulnerable of environments?

So, you're advocates for pedophiles, then? Disgusting. You will bend over backwards for a handful of people before you do what is best for your greatest supporters, families with innocent children. You're disgusting.

"All YMCA members deserve to feel safe and have our privacy honored. Individuals who feel this way about their gender identity should use the locker room of their biological sex and/or an individual room in the family locker room area. We who do not agree with their "feelings and identity" should not be forced to feel unsafe!"

Isn't their laws about indecent exposure? We are talking about children folks!
