This article has several good points about the safety of women: http://thefederalist.com/2015/11/23/a-rape-survivor-speaks-out-about-transgender-bathrooms/ Also... Why not have the option of single occupancy stalls?

All should be treated with dignity and respect. Please respect the needs of all your patrons. Just as you would ask that a mother or father visiting with children of multiple ages and genders, use the family locker room, it would be appropriate to ask transgender etc. to use the family locker room.

We are members of the YMCA and will reconsider our membership if lockerrooms are open to anyone based on their gender identity not their biological sex.

After visiting with the office director, I think trans gender males or females should use the family changing room since there are locked rooms for changing and showering. When a transcender male is "in the process' as the term was used, there are too many women who are completely nude when such a person walks around the locker room. have them use the family private rooms please.

As a former employee, I'm glad I'm not working there any longer if this is the direction they are heading. I'm remembering back to middle school and how awkward it was to be going through all the changes that go along with puberty. It was awkward being around other girls who were going through the same thing. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be forced to use a GIRLS locker room or bathroom with people who have not and will never go through the same changes I was going through.

Gender may be a personal thing which is a personal thing. But in public places only biology can be observed, thus we have male and female bathrooms and showers. If you start letting people go into whatever room they want, you just increase the opportunities for abuse to happen. This just open the Y to more lawsuit. It is a bad policy

As a teacher I can tell you that the idea of letting someone "pick their gender" is extremely damaging and confusing to children. The YMCA used to be known for its moral compass; but you have now lost it, by trading it in for "political correctness."

I am concerned for safety for minors, there is too much room for abuse of this privilege. Is the YMCA going to screen any background checks? As an adult woman, do my privacy rights get infringed upon too?

How does the YMCA prevent a young pervert from taking advantage of this policy?

This proposed action is an abomination.

For Muslim women, where is the accommodation? Their faith prohibits being seen undressed by a male that is not their husband. Some will not even visit a male doctor. Do you have any families that are practicing Muslims at your location?

I would never support or join a Y (or any other gym) with this policy in place.

Our youngest daughter recently visited the Hastings Y to pick up an application to join. This WILL NOT happen now. We will not risk her safety & human dignity. Sex has EVERYTHING to do with genitalia. What a ridiculous comment to make!

I am a YMCA member and cannot understand this new policy. The rights of many are going to be violated for the rights of a few. This is ridiculous.

Do not allow males above5 years of age to use the women's locker room. I will join another club if you do this.

This is insane, and we wonder where morality went in our country?
