Revisit West Kelowna school reconfiguration

Build us a new high school. This is a short term solution. Mount boucherie does not have the space for another grade, let alone our current students. And besides the point, 14 year old girls should not be in the same school as 18 year old boys...

Please reconsider your decision

The community was not allowed a say but was instead pushed aside while the boards agenda was pushed. As a psychologist with a practice in child psychologist the developmental differences between a grade 6 student and a grade 9 are significant- this significance seemly went unnoticed or uncared for because their bottom line doesn't seem to be about child wellness but only about money.

The trustees need to be held accountable! They heard the voices of the parents, then voted for something that should be deferred.

Way too quick.

The board thinks the grade configuration will be as easy as the Rutland switch two years ago. We had plenty of prep time to implement that into the whole enrolment process. Now the main enrolment is done for the fall and they now decide to change grades. Going to cost hundreds of man hours to switch numerous applications as well as numerous angry parents we now need to tell they’re going to different schools than planned.

Short sighted and not in the best interest of the kids

A new school sounds like a better plan. Think about the students having to lose friends because of the new division of grades and having to go to a different school.

Grade 9 are to young in this generation to be in high school

More time should have been given to such a huge decision that drastically and negatively affects kids

Pay attention to the different school capacities and not assume that because it worked in Rutland, it should be done here.

Violation of procedures will not be tolerated. Proper consultation is required for decisions of this magnitude.

Please reconsider the grade reconfiguration in West Kelowna to Sept 2019 in order for Students, Teachers and Parents have more time to prepare.

Not even sure what the changes are but the fact the board ignored fair process is not right. ALL and changes need to be revoked until it has followed proper procedure

Procedures are in place for a reason, without those regulations the ability to protect the interests of all students is in jeopardy.

Build a new school with the vacant land the district has!

This is just another band-aid solution that doesn't directly address the long term problem. You speak of saving money hence the urgency to rushing this transition. However in the long run this will be much more costly then addressing the need on the westside now!! Which is actually the need for another school and the enforcement of catchment boundries. This bandaid approach to addressing the over crowding on the westside is ridiculous with damaging outcomes that have not been taken in to consideration. Shame on you Council for not doing your home work and presenting a pliable action plan. Do the right thing. Build an elementry school on the Smith Creek land (That has been designated for years) Transfer the elementry students from George Pringle to the the Smith Creek School and return George Pringle back into a high school as it was always originally intended. Stop wasting our tax dollars and putting our children at risk!!!

Our children are our future taxpayers paying your salaries. Help them to grow into mature, confident young adults that are ready to take on a career when they graduate! Not allowing time for this to be considered and them to adjust is absolutely irresponsible and unacceptable. Children are our future. It is ALL of our job to protect them, raise them, and help them on their journey to adulthood, not force them into situations to save money!

There is not enough time given to prepare our elementary children for middle school. They are still very immature and need another year to be prepared to be independnent

Please table this until all the details are worked out.
