I am signing this because the board didn’t follow its own rules when they made this decision. I believe it may be time for the ministry of education to step in.

I cannot believe that against the advice of the school trustee this change was made and that although it isn't on the books that the reason they kept GMS to grade 9 was because the parents in this community would make less noise about the situation. I can't wait until the parents of those grade 6's get thrown into the GMS culture next year and have to teach their 10 year olds how to navigate the alcohol, drugs and vaping that goes on in GMS DAILY, in the school washrooms, on the school grounds. Way to rob a bunch or 10 & 11 year olds of the chance to be kids.
Not to mention the fact that separating the grade 9 students from 2 different feeder schools will put those in GMS at a social disadvantage once they hit MBSS. If peer pressure isn't hard enough, let's throw in an extra thing for them to now try to fit in.
Poor decision, poor use of resources all to save a few bucks. I am disappointed to say the least.

Very disappointed in the decisions this board has made. This will make a huge impact on so many families. Our children are the ones that are going to suffer and it really is sad. I think most parents are ok with a transition, just not in the manner it has been proposed. Next year I will now have 3 kids in 3 different schools now, wish I had more time to prepare my children for this.

The way this decision has been made is a clear indication that those who have made it know it is wrong. The educational needs of our children, along with their safety, are not met with portable after portable and unanswered questions.

Home schooling seems to be the answer - but how many parents can do this? It’s absurd that “some committe” can just decide when to change the rules- JUST SAY NO!

This decision was made without proper consultation of the parents and school communities affected. It does not give the teachers, students, and parents enough time to plan for such a big change. The same can be said of any planned changes in the FI program. Consultation and lead-time are both necessary.

we request you to reconsider your apparent rushed decision on February 28 with very little consideration given to parental or public input. Not to mention not following standard policies and practices...how can you justify either???

I do not agree with the proposed grade changes. I think there are many advantages in keeping the kids in small, neighborhood schools until the end of grade 6. The decision was made in haste and there was a real lack of consultation and disregard for the wishes of the parents and the well being of the students. I feel for the current grade 5 and grade 8 students who have not been prepared for the proposed change. I hope that the trusties change their minds on this issue. I also suggest that we all vote in the next election to hold our elected officials to listen to the needs and wishes of Families, Students and Parents.

My little grade 5 son isn't ready to change schools, especially be in a school where they are doing things that he should not yet be around!
