West Cary residents opposed to Cardinal Charter Academy

Let me know if you have a better Charter school organization to use, or you can form an investment and will donate a large trunk of funding to get a different school built.

Can you tell me why? Just because your kids already has a good school assignment and you are not going to move. So you would like to deny the right for others who try to share the prosperity?

So we can improve it. Is that not an option? Are you an America with dreams or an America living in retirement community?

Do you admit the Campus is much larger which is actually a good thing! I heard lots of complaints saying there is too little space for all the large amount of students who are potentially to apply. And why your Apex people does not like it? Because your kids in Apex charter schools?

Same as my comments to other people here. Is there any difficulty for a Durham resident to travel to this location to get your kids into this school? There will be no traffic into the Weldon Ridge Blvd if you joined the school! Why not give the people in Triangle more choice and give your friends one more choice?

As a Charlotte resident, why do you oppose something in Cary? Please correct your address and compare Cary and Challotte to tell us something we don’t know.

The Yates Store RD will certainly become a four-lane major road from Morrisville Parkway to O’Kelly Chapel RD. We need to push the town and the builder to invest more to broaden the road, not stopping any development. Have you seen all the development in Chatham county side? The road will be full even without the school.

The roadway infrastructure into the area where the proposed school is not built to handle the enormous influx of traffic the new school will bring. I strongly oppose the building of this school.

We oppoae the charter school location

The traffic study indicated 55% of the traffic will come from the Cary side of Morrisville Parkway, turning onto the one lane of Weldon Ridge Blvd. 55% of 2200 students could easily be a THOUSAND vehicles on this road coming and going morning and afternoon. 10% of the traffic is estimated to come down Cary Glen, through the heart of Cary Park. The applicant, a for profit charter school, has not even offered to install traffic lights at the intersection of WR Blvd/Morrisville Pkwy, or at most of the other affected intersections. I urge my fellow neighbors to sign the petition against this TRAFFIC AND SAFETY NIGHTMARE.

I oppose the building of a school there solely on grounds that there is already a traffic problem and this would make it the traffic problem (too much traffic) worse.

As a current homeowner. I am against construction of a charter school on this property. This area would become a nightmare from traffic!

This rezoning to allow a much larger campus than originally planned would put a tremendous strain on existing roads such as Yates store which is very curved, steep and narrow. It would also present a danger to the children of the area with cut through traffic from the large number of cars needed to transport children to and from school and high school drivers.

I attended the town hall meeting and would like to make one other point. Yates Store Road is already a very dangerous road because of the hills and curves. Adding more cars AND teenage drivers is a recipe for disaster. Please think about this as you make your decision to allow a school of this size and nature in this area.

As a previous Cardinal Charter parent, the school is really good and the staff were trying their best to serve the community. The only problem is that the location in Cary downtown is too limited and the nearby office building does not allow the parents to use their parking lot. The students had to move on to other schools, so as the teachers. The current location is really a good choice for the school as it is very close to the Asian community who want to give their children more choices. Couldn’t our people look back to the big houses and think if we can contribute back to the community rather than rejecting any development in this area? This is an opportunity to everybody near and far. I hope the school can contact all the alumni of the school and work with the community to hear about their concerns. This is not about development but all about a new educational choice for the kids. If you really think there are too many school already, please do not complain and give other people still struggling a moment to breath. We are all residents of Wake County. Can we help rather than block?

Charter Schools USA, which is the management company that will run this school, operates like a real estate company with an education subsidiary attached to it. CSUSA profits through its host of affiliated businesses including Red Apple Development, Ryan Construction Company, the Florida Charter Education Foundation, and the curriculum software firm Connex. These companies, which are often owned by or employ the same individuals, collaborate to pad their wallets at taxpayer expense. After a charter board signs a lease agreement, CSUSA flips the property from Ryan Construction to Red Apple Development, and lease payments are charged out 40 years, with rent and interest adding to the lease payments. Another 13 to 15 percent is charged by CSUSA for management fees, hence 40 percent of public money is not spent on instructing children.
