Kids should not come to school with easily contractible head lice. Send a note home and give instructions to parents. And send a note home to all parents that someone at the school contracted lice please be vigilant and aware.

As a parent that had kids in the school district, I’m disgusted that this policy is in place. To not warn families so they can protect their households from infection is unbelievable. You didn’t allow kids with colds during the pandemic to go to school, but cases of infestation are known…allowed IN CLASS and NO ONE IS WARNED????? What, so it can spread more?? What if there is an active measles case? Or worse? This needs to change immediately.

While not wanting to single out a student suffering out this affliction is an admirable sentiment, we must look at the larger picture. The current policy leaves all students at risk of exposure, while simple steps could be taken to help mitigate spread.
Male the change to protect other children and families. It's not easy to rid of lice. It should be reported even if there's one child in the entire school that has it. Lice spreads like wildfire and should be treated and dealt with so that a continuous epidemic doesn't occur. Yes it happens however it needs to be taken seriously. Do the right thing!

We should have the right as parents to know if there is an outbreak and the choice to keep them home if we are uncomfortable

Parents should be informed of in school exposure to illnesses that are serious threat to their household, like RSV, HFM, Flu, Pink eye and lice!

I do not feel comfortable sending my kids to school knowing they can easily be infested with lice because the school district doesn’t do anything about it.

But we go to preschool in Meridian, which follows the WASD schedule and we are awaiting lottery results for 2 schools in the WASD.

My child got head lice and nothing is being done about the outbreak, not even notifying the parents there is one!

Our son attends Eagle Hills Elementary and we battled a lice problem last year for 6 months before we finally got rid of it and he has now been re-infested and the battle has been going on for 3 weeks again. The nurse won’t do anything about it and said it’s like a common cold.
