West Ada School District Head Lice Policy Demand for Change

Disgusting! Change these policies!

My children both go to West Ada. During the last two years my children have been infected with lice at least 7 times. I proactively treated the problem throughout my entire house. They still continued to get it. I had to cut their waist length hair to chin length just to deal with it. PLEASE CHANGE THE POLICY. I am begging you for all of the frustrated parents out there who are going through the same thing.

Both granddaughters are in West Ada school district. 2015 we battled head lice 3 times that school year and ended up having the girls hair cut short because it became such a time consuming, frustrating battle costing hundreds of dollars . Very heartbreaking to see my youngest getting here waist long beautiful hair chopped off.

At least make parents aware when there is a known case of lice at the school so they can check at home and treat.

My daughter will be in kindergarten next fall.

We were infected by the school last year, and have never in 15 years had it before....it was AWFUL!!!!! Please screen the kids!!!!!!!

When I was in school they had strict lice policies and they were very effective. Please introduce them to West Ada.

This is a terrible epidemic that has to stop! If your child has live lice or eggs they should stay home til treated!!

My child doesn't attend in the west Ada school district yet but will in the future. I feel strongly that a case of head lice in a child's classroom should be told to all parents. I also advocate for checks at school and sending the child home for appropriate treatment.

2nd grade

The lice situation in my child's class is getting out of hand. The school has been excellent in doing everything they can, but their hands are tied. Something needs to change. This isn't fair to the teacher, the poor kids with the lice, or any of their classmates.

My daughter got it twice in one year.

My son has come home with lice numerous times. And if you talk to the school nurse about a child other than yours having lice, they treat you as if you just committed a crime.

I’m not taking my kids back till this is resolved. This shouldn’t be allowed in 2017.

When I was a student in the West Ada School district (back when it was still called Meridian school district) we had regular lice checks in elementary and students found with lice were sent home until the lice was gone to prevent a spread to other students. I’m not sure when or why that policy would have changed but it should not have.

My nephews and several friend's children are in the WASD. Their contracting lice at school affects everyone at home, in the family, and friends. Preventative measures, and protocol put in place to help prevent the spread of live at school is imperative to a healthy community, and a rich learning environment.

I don’t currrntly have children in West Ada Achool district as my son is too young, but when he’s old enough it’s important these kinds of things are taken care of!

I currently have a child in the Boise school district, but, when we do move. The likelihood that we'd be in the West Ada school district, will probably happen.

My cousins are in the West Ada School District.

Use common sense. If a child has lice, all parents should be notified and the child should be sent home to avoid further outbreak. Common. Sense. It's shocking that adults these days aren't always thinking of the children. They are focused on $.
