I feel this will discourage students from taking challenging courses. Why take AP or honors? All I need is a 4.0. There are currently about 100 kids (1/3 of class). This number will simply increase without weighting with less course rigor. Not preparing kids for college without course rigor.

Please do not make this change. Consider the real negative impacts to students as this affects getting into certain colleges and potentially receiving merit scholarships. One high profile school district in Palo Alto, CA proposed this change but ultimately kept weighted grades so as to not disadvantage their students.
