The Regents should reject the draft Social Studies Framework which requires boring survey courses of an impossibly long and vague list of "conceptual understandings."

If the Regents don't reject the draft we will reject the Regents & work together with teachers, students, families, and experts to make our own framework based on powerful questions, deep understandings, and authentic civic engagement. I have been hearing from educators across the region who are just as exhausted by this bloated framework as I am. We are currently drafting a real alternative that focuses on actual critical thinking rather than just memorizing a list of names. If they refuse to listen to us then we will simply build the curriculum they are too afraid to teach.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that so many of you are just as exhausted by these hollow mandates as I am. This momentum proves that we refuse to let our classrooms be reduced to a checklist of irrelevant trivia.

Total waste of time. Kids need to learn real history not this watered down nonsense. Just let teachers actually teach instead of following a script.

Give the classrooms back to the teachers. They know what works better than some board in an office somewhere.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. The curriculum is a mess already without adding more pages of vague requirements. Scrap the whole thing.

Too much fluff in this new plan. Keep it simple and focused on the facts that actually matter.

Finally someone said it! We need critical thinking not just checking off boxes on a laundry list.

This framework is honestly unteachable. How are they supposed to cover all that in one year without losing the students completely?
