Whereas the CUNY Board of Trustees will in its June meeting vote to take away faculty authority over curriculum by making the faculty's role in designing curriculum an advisory one; and
Whereas faculty have historically controlled curriculum decisions because they are the only ones qualified to do so;
We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed change in CUNY's Policy regarding the faculty's control of the curriculum, strongly support the University Faculty Senate resolution and urge the Board of Trustees not to approve such a change.
This is a terrible idea. Faculty know what they are doing better than any board member ever will.
