I would echo the comments relating to Heathfield CC and optional study leave. These young people should be able to choose which method works best for them. I also question the date chosen: my niece will have already taken 85% of her exams before study leave starts! Please think again.

I think it is so disgraceful that the students haven't been consulted and involved in this decision!

Questions for head mistress. Do you have a laptop? Do you ever work from home? Why do you work from home? Why at such a crucial part of our children's lives do you feel it necessary to Guinea pig them with your ideas and without consultation? If they do not achieve their grades will you take full responsibility for this? Shame on you!

Very disappointed by the tone of the headteacher letter and the complete lack of consultation.

I did my GCSE's last year and got given around 4 weeks of study leave and I can honesty say that this study period was incredibly important and I believe I wouldn't have achieved my grades without it. It gave me time to prepare for each individual exam, organise my revision and ensure I had covered everything for each exam. The fact these students are not being given the opportunity to have a decent time off for study leave is absurd. I believe that it is important that their study leave is increased as it is extremely unfair that they're expected to remain in school when they're stressed about their exams and could be utilising their time at home to study at their own pace and comfort rather than feeling the pressures of school. Furthermore, school is exhausting and students have other focuses and things happening outside of school that may reduce the time they have to study which will significantly affect their focus in the exams and their overall grade.

Seems strange to have to stay at school once exams happening, lets reduce stress for the children and allow them to study independently

There are too many distractions at school and after an exhausting day in school, how are we supposed to perform our best in exams and revise enough? By having study leave we can become refreshed whilst getting lots of revision done in a relaxing environment and have less nerves about exams. Wearing our clothes will allow us to feel more relaxed and concentrate more in exams.

I would like to ask Mrs Key that when she has a crucial final report that needs to be completed if she sits in a room of 30 people or if she does this in quietness of her own office?

I feel really strongly that this should be an option. My kids find school tiring and often not conducive to study or revision. They are also ill non stop and I think it would be great for them to be able to quietly work at their own pace away from distractions and other people's nerves. The school are so focused on getting results they are not putting the kids well being first. It's a stressful time and as others have expressed this needs to be minimised where possible.
