I had intro to video with Rick, and I was very nervous because my major was print journalism and I was not at all comfortable with the cameras or the editing programs for the course. From day one Rick was patient, and I could tell he truly cared about my success in his class. He is the perfect teacher to teach Video 1 course, and I hope that future students can have the opportunity to attend his classes.

Rick Davis was one of the kindest teachers I've met in the NESCom program. I'm not even a video major, and I would be devastated if this man were to be let go. He has the perfect temperament for incoming students who are overwhelmed with there major and don't know what they are doing.

Rick Davis has had one of the biggest impacts on my life. The way he conducted his intro to video class completely changed my life. Prior to this class I was an audio major, I was certain that this was my path in life because it’s what I knew best. I didn’t dare explore any other options,
you could say it was the "comfortable" decision. However, on day one when I stepped into Rick Davis’s class everything changed. Whether it was from his passion for what he does or his infectious enthusiasm or combination of the two, Rick Davis introduced my eyes to the world of video. Never before had I felt A burning passion to want to learn more about something. Davis’s genuine love for what he does overflowed with what I can only describe as the perfect teaching style. Every class was engaging and packed full of new information that I found myself falling in love with. His ability to break things down into realistic explanations set him apart from any other professor I had in the past. It didn’t take me very long to realize I was finding my true passion. His teachings, and encouraging personality, allowed me to develop the confidence to leave what was comfortable and to truly chase after this new passion of mine. Making the change to video has been one of the most fulfilling and awarding decisions I have had the privilege of making, it was without a doubt in my mind the second best decision I’ve ever made for myself (first being, loving God). So to those reading this, whoever you may be,or wherever you may be in life. I challenge you to take a minute and think about the one person in your life that gave you confidence to do something that you never knew you had within you. Think about all the steppingstones that led you to where you are now, think about how all these steps can be all derived from this one person. Now stop, think, what if that person was never there? Would your journey be twice as long with twice as many hurtles?Or perhaps, would you even be where you are tod

Rick has taught me a lot about the video world. He is a great and patient teacher who takes time to sit down and teach you. This is not fair to future NESComers' and to the rest of the students. He is a professional who knows his craft and makes the subject fun. I would really be disappointed to see him leave.

As an advisor, Rick was always there for me by email, phone, or in person. He genuinely cares about his students and would help them in anyway possible when needed. It would be a great loss to the school should such a reliable and caring teacher be dismissed.

Rick is an incredible teacher. I have worked with him on jobs outside of NESCOM and he is not only an incredible instructor but a wonderful person. NESCOM should be ashamed of themselves for their decision.
