In case you are not aware, BISD is enforcing a rule in which we are not allowed to have headphones at all, except at lunch, before and after school. We are also not allowed to listen to music in any class, unless used for academic purposes. Teachers are allowed to take our headphones/earbuds away and take them to the office, which results in us paying for them to get them back. This petition is to let BISD know that having our headphones/earbuds taken up is not fair and that we should be allowed to listen to music during class (with the teacher's permission, of course).

I honestly cannot believe we hit two hundred and fifty signatures because when I started this I was just angry about my own earbuds getting snatched. It is wild seeing that many people annoyed by the same office fee policy and I am genuinely shocked that so many of you feel the same way about our music.

I checked the screen and suddenly everything looks so different now because it feels like people are finally seeing how annoying it is to get our stuff taken away for no reason. It honestly gives me a headache thinking about the office fee policy but knowing so many of you are on board makes me feel like we might actually get someone to listen.

I just spent the whole morning reading through the stories everyone is leaving here and honestly the fact that people are actually paying fines just to get their own property back is totally wild to me (who even decided that was a reasonable policy anyway). Keep telling me your experiences because I am putting together a folder to drop off at the administration building since I think they need to see how frustrated we all are.

I graduated last year and the noise that was in the class room was very distracting. Headphones help with concetration.

Headphones help me concentrate in class when we have solo work and I listen to meditation music to help my anxiety too, taking my headphones away is unsettling.

I do not believe that this is fair in any way. just because there are students that abuse the privilege doesn't meant that they should punish the people doing what they're supposed to. some people need music to focus, like me. I need music in some classes to block out the kids that are talking, being loud, and not doing their work. music is a way that helps kids focus, why take that away from us?

We need our earbuds back. When we get to work alone and we get to use earbuds I would concentrate more than ever and it would help me not get distracted and talking to my friends.
