it would kill me if my dog was stolen, they're not property they are FAMILY and as such there should be harsh penalties for the crime of dognapping.

This is happening far too often. Media attention is needed to help highlight this problem and maybe help some of these loved pets get hone to their owners. The media can definitely do more to help here and raise awareness.

I have a dog that has been missing now for 13 weeks. Registered with lost pets as well as Hamilton Council and massive Facebook sharing. Still no sign of our 13 year old Pomeranian.
Heavy hearted and would like him back, just like owners of all these other dogs
