To the New Zealand Media
We need your help and appeal to you to use all of your communication channels to help us share our story with New Zealand.
We are a group of 30+ dog owners from all over the country, and our beloved dogs are missing, presumed stolen-and we want them back! We have come together to build a community on Facebook to try and spread our stories and be reunited with our dogs. Our page “We Want Our DOGS BACK NZ. 30 Days and Counting” has over 1000 followers and we have support from all over New Zealand, and now we appeal to you, the Media, for some much needed help in getting our stories heard, read and seen by the wider general public in NZ.Every month in New Zealand HUNDREDS of dogs go missing. Many are reunited with their families, but sadly (and alarmingly) many are not. Some are found wandering lost but kept or sold on, some are stolen, some of these dogs are to become just a sad form of inhumane and illegal entertainment, some are to be farmed and some an object for quick monetary gain.
Dog theft, keeping or on-selling a dog you find is not OK. This is becoming a common occurrence and a concern shared by many. Please help us to shine a light on our missing dogs and this escalating problem in NZ.
We have been searching tirelessly for our beloved dogs, some of us as long as seven years. Our searches have been long and fruitless, with our dogs seeming to have disappeared off the face of the earth. We know they have to be somewhere. There are people out there that know where they are or what has happened to them. Each dog owner has a different story to tell, we are from all walks of life, we are scattered throughout the country, but we have one thing in common - WE WANT OUR DOGS BACK NEW ZEALAND.
We ask that you consider supporting us by sharing our stories. We believe (and hope) this will result in new information surfacing and possibly reuniting some of us with our dogs. Please tell our story.

Our two beautiful family pets were stolen last Sept too. So heart broken and devastated. It must stop.. the police are powerless at the moment it is classed the same as having your car broken into in a car park. They do less or nothing about it.
My Aunty had 2 dogs disappear never to be seen again :( My dog I rescued at 18 mths old from a gang compound. He was being tortured as a bait dog for fighting dogs as he wouldn’t turn nasty & fight. The worst most destructive & dangerous animal is the human race. ;(:(
Stealing anything is a crime. Society needs to stop the mentality of “it’s just a dog”. They are members of families and living beings themselves. It’s abduction and needs the relevant attention to stop what is cruel, unkind, heartbreaking and illegal.
It’s take a year so far and still the court and police haven’t had my friends dog RETURNED to her DESPITE KNOWING WHO HAS STOLEN the dog. Shame on the justice system and their very slack laws and pitifully weak punishments for animal thefts and cruelty/abusers.
WE WANT OUR DOGS BACK NZ, Its been a long time SEARCHING, -Its been a long time HOPING, -Its been a long time WAITING....30 days, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 4 years, 6 years and some of us 7 years. Please....HELP US GET OUR DOGS HOME.
We need to elevate the perception that animals are just possessions. Animals are missing/stolen family members
Unfortunately, New Zealand has too many uneducated, dysfunctional families that haven't a clue how to treat and care for animals. This Rescue sees everyday dogs being mistreated and abused and injured. I work with many Animal Shelter in New Zealand and my Foundation Support many Rescue around the world.

I have a dog that has been missing now for 13 weeks. Registered with lost pets as well as Hamilton Council and massive Facebook sharing. Still no sign of our 13 year old Pomeranian. Heavy hearted and would like him back, just like owners of all these other dogs
