One of the best coaches I had in any sport. Always restored the confidence in my self when ever it was taken away from me. The biggest supporter for each and EVERY one of her athletes. She is the reason why ONE HEART BEAT will be for ever and always.

No assistant coaches are in it for the money. Vanessa, as an alumni of WPU and coach, has always put her heart and soul into that team. She bleeds orange&black. When it comes to dedication, commitment, sacrifice and teamwork, she was a role model. She has and always will be a mentor, friend and inspiration to every athlete coached and family involved. She aways stood up for William Paterson softball and all that came with it.

Enough with the political BS. That's what it is all about at WPU Athletic Dept. all the hire-ups stick together. We all see it and know it. I've had 2 athletes at WPU. Your whole dept doesn't care one bit about the players it's all about the wins. It's unfortunate that a coach like "V" who did care about each individual player, above and beyond, on and off the field, is being let go. Maybe it's a good thing for "V" I'm sure this will open up more doors for her and she can spread her love and devotion to the game on/off the field to many others. Go ahead WPU you keep your "older" staff/coaches there because of politics. Things happen for a reason. I am a true believer in what goes around comes around. Always remember if it wasn't for the " AWESOME PLAYERS" and the AWESOME ASSISTANT COACHES". Those HEAD COACHES wouldn't be where they are today. Is sad that a lot of parents won't complain because it might (or most likely) will hurt their child's playing time. So WPU it will be a great loss to you losing "V" as a coach, and a big WIN to another team. Your head coach won't be there forever, and neither will all the hire ups in your athletic dept. we'll see who wins in the long run. And I guarantee it won't be WPU. I'm a witness to that because my own kids ended up so better off not being part of your program any longer. Your sports program did NOTHING for them in life. I wish the best of luck to Coach V. Such a wrong decision in WPU part.

I have had the first hand pleasure to have played with Vanessa, so I can speak of her from another side. Always a leader, she is one of the reasons WPU is the program it is today. She has dedicated such a huge part of her life to the game, players and University and should if anything be rewarded for the commitment and example she follows.
V, you have so much to be incredibly proud of and it is a true loss for WPU.-Janine

What can else can I say that hasn't been said by so many others so perfectly?? This is such a disappointing loss to the team and the fans. I can't imagine WPU without the "V." Coach V was the "one" who made sure it was "one heartbeat." I consider myself fortunate to have had V has a mentor, role model, coach and now friend.

Can't imagine a WPU softball program without Coach V - 18 years of excellent coaching, passion, true caring, concern, inspiration - always going above and beyond 24/7 for her students/players. She was an amazing coach and mentor to my daughter during her years at WPU and I know to all of her teammates. The terms heart, soul, life, glue, passion, professionalism, core are apt descriptors but fall short of how important Coach V is to your program. I join others in asking WPU to rethink.

I didn't play Pioneer WPU softball but I've known Vanessa for years. She is by far one of the most motivated and inspirational softball coaches I've had the benefit of witnessing coach the game. She literally eats sleeps and breathes her teams and WPU wouldn't be the same without her.

Coach V was such an inspirational figure in my life on and off the field. No one can make you understand one heart beat like V can and her passion is nothing short of contagious. I hope William Paterson will realize just how much they are losing by letting V go.
