Sharing our homes with visitors is the hallmark of our wonderful community! It is the basis for our artful, musical, beautiful, historical existence. Tourism in all forms is paramount to the economic survival of Monterey County. Sardine factories, the U.S. Army, and agriculture are no longer our staples. Please support tourism, and enjoy the natural beauty that outsiders come in droves to appreciate, or we will soon move on to our next source of revenue: FRACKING!

Monterey county has a beautiful coast that should be accessible to public. But because of prohibited cost it is not really accessible except for the well to do. STR will bring more options to visitors especially families with children

Vacation Rentals bring thousands, if not millions, of dollars to the Monterey peninsula. The visitors add to the ecomony by dining in our local restaurants, purchasing items in our local stores. The owners of the rentals add to the county coffers with paid TOT and by purchasing items needed for the rentals. It is a win, win. Please create an ordinance like those in Pacific Grove and Santa Cruz which allows homeowners to participate in the Sharing Economy.

A fair ordinance for vacation rentals would benefit all in the county. Complaints about short term rentals should be handled like any complaints with respect to the neighborhood.

A fair ordinance will NOT result in harm to neighborhoods. The current ordinance is being administered in an arbitrary and onerous fashion.

Let's put a fair ordinance in place like Pacific Grove did to allow and regulate short-term rentals in Monterey County. It's a model that is working well and bringing growth to the economic, touristic and small business sectors.

Why reinvent the wheel, Pacific Grove has a workable solution use there reg'sas a working draft and improve it for simplification

It's clear that lack of an equitable ordinance in Monterey County has caused confusion in parts of our county. We rely on the Supervisors to display leadership in this regard.

We've been renting a legal, permitted studio on our property for more than two years. The neighbors all know about it only because we've told them. They have no issues. We live on site. We've paid TOT from day one - were issued an account number and receive a bill each quarter which we pay promptly. The county has collected thousands of dollars from our one tiny unit. They aren't involved other than sending that bill.

We agree that Monterey County should have an ordinance lit that of Pacific Grove, and all short-term rentals should pay TOT.
