Apology long over due from the Irish state great to c the research that was done to prove these facts slap in the mouth to a lot of people who taught they knew what they were talking about trying to educate that we came from the famine.

The systematic cruelty the Traveling People have been subjected to - having their history re-written, their character maligned, and their way of life obliterated, and a concerted attempt to 'solve the itinerant problem in one generation' through mass institutionalisation and public policy - warrants at least this apology... as a starting point towards addressing and amending the wrongs inflicted on them.

Many thought the original travellers were the displaced of Ireland after Cromwell. Surely they should be treated as well as other refugees at least, not discriminated against

About time too! For years travellers have been persecuted and all treated the same. If anything its getting worse and it needs to be stopped.
